Upgrading discontinued Lenze drives

Avoid unplanned downtime

Lenze's 8200, 9300 and SMD frequency drives, which in the past were built into many Contiweb splicers, were discontinued by Lenze several years ago and are no longer sold through official channels. This means that they can no longer be replaced one-to-one in case of malfunction.

Obsolete core drives and infeed drives can cause severe unplanned downtime if they fail. Contiweb’s retrofits avoid unscheduled disruptions and safeguard your production lines. The extent of the retrofit varies: some obsolete drives can be easily replaced (1:1) by new drives, while others (core and infeed) require a considerable rebuild.

If you have multiple splicers with these obsolete drives, we suggest that you upgrade all the drives on one machine and keep the old drives as emergency stock for the remaining splicers. This will limit your investment and ensure back-up drives are available.

Free check for affected drives

Contiweb can check for free whether obsolete Lenze drives are installed in your Contiweb machines.

Many drives can be replaced individually at short notice after a breakdown, but in some applications it only makes sense to replace all the drives at the same time. Contiweb’s Service department will be happy to advise.

Benefits

  • Avoiding unplanned downtime and lost production.
  • Keeping the old drives as emergency stock, limiting the investment and ensuring back-up drives are available.
  • Free Contiweb check for affected drives.

Some Lenze drives in our splicers are no longer available due to environmental legislation. If they fail, they need a complex modification, which means downtime and a site visit from a Contiweb engineer. You can avoid this downtime by replacing these obsolete parts, preventing loss of production caused by unexpected drive failure.
